How to play Word Guess

Guess the hidden five-letter word in six tries. After each guess the tiles change colour: green means the letter is correct and in the right spot, yellow means the letter is in the word but elsewhere, and grey means it is not in the word at all. The daily word is identical for every player, or play unlimited practice rounds - and there is a VS mode where you race a bot to the word.

Tips & strategy

• Open with a vowel-rich starter like ADIEU or RAISE to test five distinct common letters at once.
• Use your second guess to test new letters rather than immediately reusing greens - information beats early luck.
• Remember that letters can repeat: a grey E in one spot does not always rule out a second E elsewhere.

Around 1,900 accepted five-letter guesses, with a curated answer list of common words - no obscure trivia answers.
