How to play Tumbloop

Tumbloop crosses Tumblox with Loop Maze: roll your 1x2 block so its footprint paints every tile on the board, then return and stand on the home pad. Standing paints one tile, lying paints two, and the 11 worlds keep adding rules: pressure plates that latch gates open, glass tiles that shatter on a second touch, teleporters, echo blocks that mirror your every move in parallel, deep plates that only sink under a standing block, thick tiles that need a second coat, and flip switches that shut their gate again the next time you land on them.

Tips & strategy

  • Plan the paint like a route, not a scribble: dead-end corridors must be entered and left by the same tiles, so paint them on the way in.
  • Lying rolls paint two tiles at once - chain them on open ground and save standing moves for tight corners.
  • In Echo Coats world, walls that block your echo are tools: park the echo deliberately, then desynchronise to reach asymmetric tiles.
  • To land on a deep plate standing, approach it lying down from two tiles away - the roll that ends on the plate is the one that presses it.
  • Count your flip-switch visits before you commit: a well or dead end usually costs you two landings, which is one too many.

Tumbloop FAQ

Do I have to end on the home pad?

Yes - the loop only closes when every tile is painted and the block stands on the pad it started from.

What breaks glass-trail levels?

Painted glass shatters if you touch it again, so those levels demand a true one-pass route; dark tiles remain reusable.

What are echo blocks?

A ghost block that copies your moves simultaneously. It paints and presses plates like you do, and skips moves that would be illegal for it.

Why won't the deep plate press?

Deep plates only sink under the block's full weight, so rolling across one lying down does nothing - you have to land on it standing upright.

What are the two-dot tiles?

Thick paint: it takes two coats, so your route has to come back over the tile a second time before the board is finished.

How do flip switches differ from plates?

A plate latches for good, but a pink flip switch toggles every time a move ends on it, so an even number of visits leaves its gate shut again.
