How to Play Minesweeper

Each Minesweeper game starts with a grid of covered cells. Some cells contain mines; the rest are safe. Your job is to reveal all the safe cells without detonating a mine.

• Click any cell to reveal it. The first click is always safe.
• Numbers indicate how many of the 8 surrounding cells contain mines.
• Right-click (or long-press on mobile) to place a flag on a cell you believe contains a mine.
• Chord by clicking a revealed number when you've flagged the correct number of adjacent mines — this reveals all remaining adjacent cells.
• If you reveal a cell with no adjacent mines, the game automatically reveals all connected safe cells.

Difficulty Levels

Beginner (9x9, 10 Mines)

Tips for Winning

• Start from the edges. Corner and edge cells have fewer neighbors, making them easier to analyze.
• Use the 1-2-1 pattern. A sequence of 1-2-1 along an edge means the mine is under the 2.
• Flag as you go. Marking known mines makes it easier to count remaining mines around numbered cells.
• Use chording. Once all mines around a number are flagged, chord-click to quickly reveal the safe cells.
• Look at intersections. When two numbers share adjacent cells, compare their mine counts to narrow down possibilities.
• Track remaining mines. The mine counter shows how many unflagged mines remain — use it to make endgame decisions.
