How to Play Minesweeper

Each Minesweeper game starts with a grid of covered cells. Some cells contain mines; the rest are safe. Your job is to reveal all the safe cells without detonating a mine.

Difficulty Levels

Beginner (9x9, 10 Mines)

A small board perfect for learning the basics. With only 10 mines on an 81-cell grid, most cells are safe and patterns are easy to spot.

Intermediate (16x16, 40 Mines)

A medium-sized board that requires more careful analysis. Mine density increases and you'll encounter more ambiguous situations that demand logical deduction.

Expert (30x16, 99 Mines)

The ultimate challenge. Nearly one in five cells is a mine. You'll need to use every technique — counting, pattern recognition, and probability analysis — to clear this board.

Tips for Winning

Minesweeper Strategy

The key to Minesweeper mastery is logical deduction, not guessing. Every number on the board tells you exactly how many mines are in the surrounding 8 cells. By comparing adjacent numbers and eliminating possibilities, you can determine the location of every mine without guessing. On rare occasions near the endgame, you may need to make a probability-based choice, but most boards can be solved with pure logic.
